TotalEnergies eröffnet eine Elektroladesäule an der alten Försterei des FC Union Stadions

Berlin 23.05.2022 -

Last summer, Union and TotalEnergies announced the extension and expansion of their partnership, which has been in place since 2009. In addition to its commitment to the professional side of the Köpenick club, the multi-energy company has since been particularly involved in the sporting sponsorship of 1. FC Union Berlin.

The installation and commissioning of the three charging stations in the car park in front of the main stand at Union's home ground has now marked another milestone in the joint partnership.

"Together with our long-standing partner, 1. FC Union Berlin e.V., we want to take a step further towards a sustainable city. In addition, together with our site partners, we would like to contribute to a densification of the charging network in public spaces in Germany in the coming years. For this reason, we have jointly chosen the stadium at the Alte Försterei as the location for our electric charging columns," says Jan Petersen, Director Mobility and New Energies at TotalEnergies Marketing Germany.

"Who has the opportunity to charge their e-car during work or a walk in the countryside?" said Dirk Thieme, CEO of "An der Alten Försterei Stadionbetriebs AG. "We are pleased to have created an attractive offer for the e-mobile Unioners in Köpenick and the surrounding area with the charging points in our car park. Up to six e-cars can be charged here at the same time."

The charging points are a public service and charging is possible daily during operating hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. On home match days or other major events, the service is reserved for stadium visitors with parking permits.

About 1. FC Union Berlin e.V.

1. FC Union Berlin was founded on 20 January 1966. In the relegation round of the 2018/2019 season, 1. FC Union Berlin e.V. was successfully promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in the club's history.

Even before this historic success, Union had already achieved international fame through extraordinary actions off the pitch. Whether it was the modernisation of the home stadium in cooperation with almost 2,500 volunteers, the annual Christmas caroling initiated by fans or the World Cup living room 2014 at the stadium An der Alten Försterei with hundreds of sofas on the lawn of the Union living room. The club's own stadium celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020 and, with its three standing-room-only tiers, is one of the reasons why Union is known throughout Germany for an exceptionally intense stadium experience.

With more than 41,000 members, 1. FC Union Berlin is one of Germany's largest football clubs.
