Total Deutschland focuses on rapid growth in B2B charging services
Multi-sites B2B project with over 120 charging points successfully completed
Berlin, 27 April 2021
TOTAL Deutschland keeps focusing on rapid growth in the development of charging infrastructure at B2B locations. A recent example is the installation of over 120 charge points for the ifm group, whose headquarter is in Essen. Ifm group consistently converts its fleet with emission-free vehicles which will be using the charging services provided by TOTAL Deutschland. The installation of a total of 62 charging stations was carried out in parallel at seven different locations of the automation specialist and was completed within a tight schedule in five months.
TOTAL Deutschland's largest B2B project to date is characterized by its full-service approach: The entire installation project - from construction to operation - was implemented by TOTAL Deutschland. Several realms we covered: preparatory electrical work, hardware installation, back-end connection & load management set up. In addition, TOTAL Deutschland also provides a set of comprehensive services for digital billing and smart charging management. Access control of the charge points will be done via ifm’s RFID charging cards.
Dirk Dohmen, Head of Purchasing and Service at ifm: "In the current sustainability report, our attitude of using natural resources as sparingly as possible is clearly formulated and the use of electric mobility is one of the building blocks for us on the way to climate neutrality, which we want to achieve in our operative business by 2030. That is why the development of a charging infrastructure for the steadily growing fleet of hybrid vehicles in our vehicle fleet is a necessary and logical step."
Jan Petersen, Director Mobility & New Energies at TOTAL Deutschland: "Only a few months after the integration of our new Munich team, we have shown that we can successfully implement large-scale projects of this kind. This milestone makes it clear that we have arrived in the market. Our goal is to provide our customers with complete packages and comprehensive all-inclusive solutions when it comes to charging EV. We appreciate the trust placed in us by ifm, which we now support with our digital services after completing the installation work.”
In order to grow strongly in the area of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, the business activities of the electric mobility division were acquired from the Munich-based company Digital Energy Solutions by the Viessmann Group in November 2020. As a result, TOTAL Deutschland already operates over 2,400 charge points across Germany. By 2025, the ambition is to grow this number to more than 40,000.
Mathias Knauer, Head of Charging Infrastructure at TOTAL Deutschland: "The installation of the charging infrastructure at ifm was a technically challenging project notably as the civil engineering work took place during the winter period. However, we were able to successfully implement our goal of putting all stations into operation in parallel at various locations - both in underground car parks and outdoor car parks - within the specified time by the end of the year."
