Reinhard Kroll retires as head of the refinery

After more than eight years as managing director of TOTAL Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland GmbH, Reinhard Kroll (62) has decided to retire in the middle of 2015. Dr. Willi Frantz (48), who currently heads the refinery engineering division, has been nominated as his successor. 

Reinhard Kroll was born in the town of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt in 1952. After completing his engineering degree at the 'Otto von Guericke' Technical College in Magdeburg, he joined the oil processing division at the Leuna works in 1976 where he held several positions until 1992. Reinhard Kroll was part of the 'Leuna 2000' project team that was responsible for planning the new refinery. When the refinery opened up in 1997, he was appointed head of production; a position he held until 2000. After working in several divisions of the Total group in Le Havre, Paris and the refinery in Antwerp, he took over the general management of the TOTAL refinery in Leuna at the end of 2006.
 
In addition to his professional commitments, Kroll also holds numerous honorary posts in the Central German region. This includes being a member of the plenary meeting of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Halle-Dessau, his duties as a member of the board of the European Metropolitan Region Central Germany, and his work as a member of the board of trustees at the Merseburg College and the board of the Zukunft Spergau foundation. 
 
TOTAL Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland GmbH is one of the most modern refineries in Europe. It has a maximum processing capacity of 12 million tonnes of crude oil every year.
